Holiday shopping trends 2019

Prepare your retail strategy for this year’s holiday shoppers

The Deloitte Holiday shopping survey report 2019

Over 6,000 people from 7 European countries, including The Netherlands, participated in the 22nd edition of the Deloitte Holiday shopping survey. The report includes insights on: when consumers plan to shop for the Holidays, which channels they plan to use (e.g. online, mobile, offline); what can trigger the consumer to spend more?

How to prepare for a profitable holiday season?

The Deloitte Holiday Trends Survey helps retailers understand trends in shopping behaviour so as to prepare for a profitable holiday season. This year, three observations stand out:

  1. This is the first year that large online-only retailers are more popular for online purchases than traditional brick-and-click player websites, driven by an increased desire for convenience.

  2. Black Friday popularity keeps rising among millennials, putting more pressure on profitability.

  3. 68% of consumers say they will actively consider one or more aspects of sustainability in their shopping behaviour, making it an essential aspect to consider.

Check our more in-depth analysis of these observations on our web page Holiday shopping trends survey 2019 or fill out the form on the right, and we'll instantly email the report to you.
