Investors, shareholders, governing bodies, customers, and the public are increasingly interested in knowing how companies are managing their social and environmental impacts, and whether they are fulfilling their commitments to sustainability.

At the same time the sustainability reporting requirements have expanded enormously under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). Established professional bodies like COSO have responded to this by providing guidance on Internal Control over sustainability reporting.
